One can apply for TAN Number online by filing Form 49B TAN application form online. Every person who is liable for deduction tax at source in term of section 192 to 196D of the act, as well as to persons collecting tax at source under section 206C of the act is required to have TAN
TAN means “Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number (TAN)”. Income Tax Department had prescribe the form 49B for application for allotment of tax deduction and collection account number.

Name of Assessee (Company/Branch/Division of a company, Individual (Sole Proprietorship) / Branch of individual business, Hindu Undivided Family (HUF), Firm / Branch of firm, Association of Persons/Body of Individuals/ Association of Persons (Trusts)/Artificial Juridical Person)

Address : Deductor / Collector should mention the address of the location where the tax is being deducted.

Permanent Account Number (PAN) : Deductor / Collector should mention the existing 10-digit Permanent Account Number allotted to it, if any, else leave this field blank.
On successful payment by credit card / debit card / net banking an acknowledgment will be displayed. Applicant shall save and print the acknowledgment and send to NSDL as mentioned in section ‘Submission of Documents’ below
